Understanding lightmass

Have you ever heard of the term "lightmaps"?

Well, it is one of the innovations that has arrived in the past few years. It is basically textures (or maps) that have the light data. This means that textures are applied to the entire scene with the light and dark areas.

Unreal Engine provides its rendering toolset the ability to bake the light data into a lightmap that will be used later at runtime to light the level. The lightmass builds the lightmaps for the stationary light sources and the static light sources only. It is obviously clear why it does not support the Dynamic (Moveable) lights, as these types of lights can't be precomputed with any means.
